A farmer, aged 50, has been taken into custody for allegedly murdering his wife in Apla, a rural community located in the Lower Manya Krobo Municipality in the Eastern Region. The suspect, identified only as Seth, is accused of killing his 42-year-old wife, Victoria, in the early hours of Thursday.
Local residents reported that after the alleged murder, Seth informed the Dadematseme (community leader) that a section of their house had collapsed overnight, leading to the death of his wife. Trust FM’s reporter, King 1, accompanied the police to the crime scene and provided details that Seth had apparently attempted to clean the bloodstains on the ground using a bedspread and some shirts.

During a search conducted by the police around the house, the mentioned clothes were discovered in the bushes, and one of Seth’s shirts had weed on it. Additionally, King 1 reported that while they were en route to the hospital, Seth changed his story and claimed that his wife died due to a dispute and physical struggle between them, despite previously stating that she had passed away from excessive alcohol consumption the previous day.
The deceased woman is currently at St. Martins Depores Hospital in Agormanya, awaiting an autopsy, while the suspected killer remains in police custody, assisting with the ongoing investigation.
