The song’s origins are rooted in Wes Montgomery’s “Bumpin’,” with lyrics added by Mark Winkler and Shelley Nyman. Marsha’s discovery of the tune at one of Mark Winkler’s performances sparked a passion project that brings together an out of the ordinary roster of talent.
The recording process was a bi-coastal affair, with basic tracks laid down at Ocean Way Studios in Nashville and overdubs and vocals recorded at Blue Moon Studio in Los Angeles. The result is a faultless blend of jazz, pop, and soul that demonstrate Marsha’s ingenuity and range.
