The organizers of the trip, Wanderlust Ghana, disclosed that they reached their destination at approximately 12:00pm GMT (1:00 pm BST). An arrival celebration is planned for them at the Ashford Kent Outlet Mall. Their journey began in Accra on Sunday, July 23, 2023, taking them through Aburi, Nsawam, Kumasi, Sunyani, Dormaa, and onward into Cote d’Ivoire via Golokrom.
Originally consisting of 12 individuals at the outset, one person had to leave the journey in Senegal due to work-related commitments, and two more dropped out in Morocco.
By Friday, August 4, 2023, they were on the fringes of Monaco in Europe, on the cusp of entering France. This was after traversing five African nations – Cote d’Ivoire, Mali, Senegal, Mauritania, and Morocco. Their entry into Europe involved a ferry across the Mediterranean to Algeciras, Spain, before driving through Valencia to reach Barcelona. They spent three days in Morocco. The group commenced the voyage using five distinct Ghanaian-registered vehicles: a Mercedez Benz G-Wagon, two Toyota Landcruisers (V8), Lexus RX 350, and a Ford F150 Raptor.
