The Ghana Education Service (GES) has initiated an internal investigation into the tragic death of first-year student Stacy Okyere at Aburi Girls Senior High School. Alongside this, GES has stated its determination to cooperate with law enforcement to ensure a thorough examination of the circumstances surrounding the incident.

Stacy Okyere, who had been suffering from severe stomach pains, sadly passed away on Monday, February 5, 2024. It is alleged that she was refused medical attention by the school nurse, who reportedly accused her of pretending to be ill. Stacy was declared dead upon arrival at the hospital.

The circumstances leading up to Stacy’s death have sparked significant scrutiny and criticism of the school’s administration, with the family alleging negligence.

In a statement released on Monday, GES extended condolences to the grieving family, recognizing the seriousness of the situation and expressing a commitment to uncovering the truth.
