A young woman, looking to treat herself on her birthday, fell victim to a scam when she attempted to order food.

The lady had found contact information for the Papaye branch in Weija on their website and decided to call and place her order. However, it turned out that she had mistakenly dialed a scammer’s number instead of the genuine Papaye branch in Weija.

This Ghanaian lady, hoping to celebrate her birthday with a Papaye meal, found herself in a difficult situation.

She was scammed when she reached out to a contact number she had discovered on the internet while searching for the Weija branch of Papaye. In a Twitter post shared by a friend of the victim, @pameladankwa, it was mentioned that they had contacted MTN and Vodafone in an effort to recover the money.

Despite having a police report, the telecommunications companies were unable to help in retrieving the GH¢8,200 that had been stolen from the birthday girl’s Mobile Money account.
