Justin Kodua Frimpong, the General Secretary of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), has conveyed a firm message to party members, emphasizing that no individual’s status surpasses that of the NPP as a whole.
He stressed the presence of a distinct boundary and cautioned that those who overstep this boundary will face repercussions. He specifically indicated that the party’s disciplinary committee, in conjunction with other measures, will address individuals involved in violent acts or communication deemed unacceptable.
This approach is evident in the ongoing situation where specific individuals are being referred to the committee for examination.
Speaking on Asempa FM’s Ekosii Sen program on Monday, Mr. Frimpong highlighted his dedication to upholding principles and ensuring impartiality in his actions. He reiterated his continuous role as the General Secretary across various election cycles, asserting his authority in maintaining order within the party.
He refuted claims of bias, asserting that all aspirants in the recently concluded super delegates’ congress were treated fairly. He rejected any suggestion of favoritism towards particular national officers.
“Regardless of one’s position, those found guilty of misconduct during the recent Super Delegates Conference will be dealt with by the disciplinary committee,” he stated.
Several aspirants for the NPP flagbearer position, including Kennedy Agyapong, Raphael Patrick Sarfo, Charles Dokyi Yaw-Addo, Musa Sulemana, and Hopeson Yaovi Adorye, have been referred to the party’s disciplinary committee. This action follows evidence, including photographic and video material, indicating potential violations of Article 3(5)(A) of the party’s constitution, as well as possible misconduct under Article 4(7).
