Justice Lydia Osei Marfo, presiding over the trial where Daniel Asiedu faces a jury for the murder of Joseph Boakye Danquah-Adu, aims to conclude the trial by March 2024.

Following discussions on Wednesday, January 31, 2024, the Court, along with the jury, established a set of dates to expedite the trial process.

The trial encountered delays since the commencement of the 2023/24 legal year due to the jury not being properly constituted, with one juror having gone on maternity leave since October of the previous year.

Chief Inspector Augustine Nkrumah, now Assistant Superintendent of Police, serving as the eighth Prosecution Witness, is expected to undergo further cross-examination by the defense counsel, led by Yaw Dankwah.

Once the defense concludes their cross-examination, the Prosecution, led by Principal State Attorney Mrs. Sefakor Batse, will close their case.

To ensure a swift trial, the Court, along with the jury, prosecution, and defense, has agreed upon a series of dates from February 20 to March 27, 2024, to complete the proceedings.

“Additional dates have been scheduled for the continuation of this trial, spanning from February 20 to March 27, 2024, by which time the trial is expected to conclude,” Justice Lydia Osei Marfo stated before adjourning the case to February 20, 2024.
