Lynx Entertainment, a renowned Ghanaian record label, has organized a solemn commemorative vigil for tomorrow, aiming to honor the memory of the late OJ Blaq.
The ceremony is scheduled to occur at 6pm on the premises of the record label. This heartfelt tribute is dedicated to the talented artist who sadly passed away on August 17.
Taking place tomorrow evening, the vigil will bring together friends, admirers, and colleagues from the music industry who wish to express their condolences and pay their respects to OJ Blaq.

Throughout the event, attendees will have the chance to share their cherished recollections of the artist and contemplate his significant contributions to the music field.

Background on OJ Blaq
OJ Blaq, whose birth name is Andy Nii Akrashie, embarked on his musical journey in the early 2000s in Accra, Ghana.
His debut album, “The Blaq Mixtape,” emerged in 2006, thrusting him into the spotlight. Over subsequent years, he continued to bless the world with an array of singles, with his hit track “Chalewote” receiving notable acclaim.
“It’s not easy moving from one path to the other. Now I do Christian urban gospel music. My switch to Christian urban music was from my experience with kidney failure, so I decided to do gospel music with the same old rhythm style but different wording because the now Christians are different Christians.
“The new generation is not interested in the old style of Christianity but they are my target, they are the souls I want to win,” the “I’m Blessed” singer said.

Recognized for his unique rap technique and insightful social commentary woven into his verses, OJ Blaq was a multi-talented artist who later transitioned from rap and hip-hop to urban gospel music.
Beyond his musical talents, he achieved popularity by appearing in Ghanaian cinema and television productions, particularly the well-known Ghanaian TV series “Sun City.”
In 2021, the artist faced the diagnosis of a kidney ailment, bravely battling the condition. While enduring dialysis treatment and awaiting a potential kidney transplant, he unfortunately passed away on Thursday, August 17, 2023.
