According to a sports report by Nhyira FM, it is expected that Dr. Kwame Kyei will continue serving as the Board Chairman of Asante Kotoko, as decided by Manhyia.
The term of the 12-member board, led by Dr. Kyei, which was inaugurated in 2020, has ended. The board is required to present their reports to Manhyia this week before the final decision is made. However, despite originally being appointed as the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) in 2016, Dr. Kyei is anticipated to retain his position as the Board Chairman.
During his tenure as CEO, Asante Kotoko achieved notable success, including a memorable victory over Hearts of Oak to win the MTN FA Cup at the Tamale Sports Stadium, with former striker Saddick Adams scoring a hat trick in the first half. Despite a 2-1 defeat leading to their elimination in the group stage against Zesco United, Kotoko also made an impact in African competitions under Dr. Kyei’s leadership.

The reports also suggest that Frederick Acheampong, former Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of AshantiGold and current Executive Council Member, is likely to be appointed as the head of the Asante Kotoko management. However, the previous management team, led by Nana Yaw Amponsah, has been dissolved following the expiration of their mandate. Mr. Amponsah submitted his three-year report to the board last week.
The new board and management are expected to be officially introduced before the start of the 2023/24 Ghana Premier League season, which commences in September.
