After a recess that started on March 31, Members of Parliament are scheduled to reconvene on June 6, 2023. The Speaker of Parliament, Alban Sumana Bagbin, issued a statement informing the MPs about the recall for the Second Meeting of the Third Session of the Eighth Parliament. Proceedings will commence at 10:00am.
In March 2023, Parliament adjourned sine die for the Easter festivities following the passage of three revenue bills that had sparked controversy. These bills were presented to the house by the government with the aim of enhancing domestic revenue mobilization.
During his closing remarks to the house, Speaker Alban Bagbin urged the MPs to refrain from making decisions that are difficult to comprehend and could disrupt the functioning of the house in the upcoming meeting.

“We have really endeared ourselves, particularly the leaders, my deputies to try and build more consensus. But we have had some rather sometimes inexplicable U-turns. And that sometimes saddens me. I hope we will not go through this experience in the next meeting. You have shown that Friday you all came prepared to work hard. So are some of the ministers”. the Speaker said
