Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia has officially submitted his nomination to compete in the upcoming presidential primaries of the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP). Alongside former Trade Minister Alan Kyerematen and nine other candidates, Dr. Bawumia aims to secure the NPP’s leadership position for the 2024 elections. In a recent tweet, Dr. Bawumia expressed his intentions and stated his plans to file his nomination forms, emphasizing the possibility of his candidacy. Following his announcement, a large number of NPP supporters gathered at the party’s headquarters to show their support as Dr. Bawumia submitted his nomination forms on June 16.
“I have my own vision to transform Ghana’s economy to the next level,” Dr. Bawumia asserted after filing his forms.
The NPP started accepting nominations on May 26 and will conclude the submission process on June 24. The party’s national congress, scheduled for November 4, will be responsible for selecting the flagbearer.
