Ghanaian chef Abdul-Razak Failatu has concluded her ambitious Guinness World Record cook-a-thon after an impressive 227 hours and 10 seconds, falling short of her initial goal of 240 hours. Despite the shorter duration, her dedication remained unwavering during the ten-day endeavor, and she made the decision to conclude the marathon 13 hours ahead of schedule based on the advice of her devoted team.

In the final hour, Chef Failatu prepared a pot of jollof rice, intending to share it with the multitude gathered at the Modern City hotel in Tamale, expressing their support. The cooking marathon, initiated at midnight on New Year’s Day with assistance from her sous-chef Malik Eric, resulted in Chef Failatu preparing a remarkable 195 meals, which she generously distributed to enthusiastic supporters. Her culinary skills not only captivated the audience but also showcased her selflessness as she served hundreds of plates to the less privileged.

Chef Failatu’s accomplishment surpasses that of Irish chef Alan Fisher, who cooked for an impressive 119 hours and 57 minutes, exceeding it by 108 hours. This extraordinary feat positions Chef Failatu as a trailblazer, marking her as the first Ghanaian chef to undertake such a record-breaking cooking marathon. Additionally, she is on track to secure a Guinness World Record for the most meals cooked and most plates served.

The culmination of her culinary attempt was met with cheers and applause, leaving Chef Failatu emotional, especially after receiving a hug from her beloved husband, Captain Reginald Agyei. Her relentless spirit and passion for her craft have not only delighted taste buds but have also set a new standard for culinary skills.
