The Pensioner Bondholders Forum has notified the District Police Commander at Ministries-Accra of their intention to resume picketing at the Ministry of Finance, according to a letter signed by Convener Dr Adu Antwi.
“We shall converge there from 10am to 11am on each working day until we receive payment of all our due coupons and principals,” the letter stated.
The Forum previously embarked on a mass action in February, which included former Chief Justice Sophia Akuffo, after the government included them in the Domestic Debt Exchange Programme (DDEP) and subsequently exempted them from the Programme. However, promises of full payment for those who did not sign up have failed to materialize.

“On 30th March, 2023, we wrote to the Finance Minister to pay us all our due coupons and principals by 21st April, 2023 and stated that if the payments were not made, we will resume our picketing at the premises of the Ministry to further press home our demand,” Dr Adu Antwi explained.
Despite the deadline being extended to Friday, April 28, “we have not received any indications from the Finance Minister that the payments are being made,” he added.
Consequently, the Forum plans to resume picketing at the premises of the Ministry of Finance on Monday, 8th May 2023, with around 50 of its members.
