The couple’s first child, Kambilichukwu, a teenager at the time, passed away in March 2023. Reports indicate that he collapsed and experienced a seizure while playing football, and despite all efforts, he couldn’t be saved. On July 8, 2023, May, who is a businesswoman and brand influencer, shared a heartfelt Instagram post in which she opened up about her son’s untimely demise.

In her lengthy tribute, May also posted a photo of herself alongside her other three children. She expressed deep gratitude to everyone who had offered their support during this difficult time. May acknowledged that there are no adequate words in English to convey the loss of a child, apart from the term “vilomah,” which signifies going against the natural order. She emphasized that the death of one’s child is an incredibly intense and agonizing experience. Despite still being overwhelmed with indescribable grief, May assured everyone that, through the grace of God, they are coping as best as they can.
