Nigeria authorizes malaria vaccinations following Ghana’s approval
Nigeria has authorized a new malaria vaccine created by Oxford University scientists. The announcement came just a few days after Ghana became the world's first government to approve the (R21) vaccine. Mojisola Adeyeye, the chairman of Nigeria's National Agency for Food and Drug Administration, stated that the vaccine would be used to combat malaria in children aged five months to three years, the most vulnerable group. Also read:50 Cent’s Relationship update About His Relationship The approval is rare in that it comes before the final stage trial data for the vaccine, which is expected to be 80% effective. Malaria is the leading cause of death in Nigeria. Every year, the disease kills around 6,000 individuals worldwide, many of them are youngsters in Sub-Saharan Africa.
