According to a MyNewsGh report, the police have successfully liberated Nana Ottupre Kwagyan, who serves as the chief of Kubease, a neighborhood in Kwahu Abetifi located in the Eastern Region. Nana Ottupre Kwagyan was reportedly abducted by unidentified individuals. A preliminary police report indicates that on the early morning of Monday, October 16, 2023, the alleged victim was forcibly taken from his residence by a group of six individuals and transported to an undisclosed location.
A police statement has confirmed that the Chief was rescued in Abene and is presently in secure custody, with an ongoing investigation aimed at apprehending the culprits.
In other news reported by Tru News Report, the Achimota Magistrate Court has declared sixteen members of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) guilty and fined each of them GHC$2400 for their involvement in the attack on United Television’s (UTV) headquarters. On Saturday, October 7, 2023, there was an incident during the station’s popular show, ‘United Showbiz.’ The individuals in question were accused of conspiring to commit a criminal act and participating in acts of disorder.

They pleaded guilty to these charges. During the live broadcast of ‘United Showbiz’ on that Saturday, the UTV studio door was forcibly entered, and a group of troublemakers entered. They caused a disturbance and made threats to the show’s host and guests. It was later revealed that the attackers were led by the NPP’s Klottey Korle Youth Organiser, who was purportedly acting on orders from Ernest Owusu Bempah, the Deputy Director of Communications, and other high-ranking members of the ruling party.
Reports suggest that the attack was incited when Kwame A Plus tore up a letter from the NPP leadership demanding changes to the show’s panel. The Ghana Journalists Association, the Ministry of Information, and many others strongly condemned the invasion by NPP supporters.

In response to the widespread criticism, Stephen Ntim, the National Chairman of the NPP, took responsibility and offered an unreserved apology to UTV’s management. Chairman Ntim expressed his disapproval of the actions of individuals associated with the New Patriotic Party (NPP) during his appearance on Peace FM, a public platform. He apologized and pledged that the party leadership would take steps to prevent such disgraceful acts in the future.
