According to the results, Mahama secured 98.9% of the votes, while his opponent, Kojo Bonsu, had only 3,181 votes. The victory of Mahama is considered a positive sign for the NDC in their efforts to defeat the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the upcoming elections. The NDC leadership has called for unity within the party to work towards victory in the next election.
