A 23-year-old mobile money vendor named Kwabena Gideon reportedly took his own life due to a debt of GH¢16,000. This tragic incident occurred in Akrampa, within the Awutu Bereku district of the Central Region.
According to sources, Gideon consumed DDT after losing ¢16,000 within a span of two weeks. His employer, suspecting that Gideon had misused the money, became upset when Gideon switched off his phone and removed all his social media contacts and pictures. Consequently, the employer reported the situation to the police in Awutu Bereku.

In fear of facing legal consequences, Gideon allegedly poisoned himself. The sudden loss of the young and hardworking Gideon has left the community in shock, with neighbors like Faustina Asare noting his apparent distress in the hours leading up to his death.
Gideon is survived by a wife and a 1-year-old son. His remains have been transported to the Winneba Trauma and Specialist Hospital.
