Three educators implicated in an alleged employment fraud scheme have each been granted bail of GH¢350,000.00 by an Accra Circuit Court. Samuel Mensah Amelikpo, David Bacha Ntenyam, and Daniel Ofori Boateng must each provide two sureties, who must either be from the teaching profession within the Ghana Education Service (GES) or be family members. They are required to report to the Police every Wednesday. The case has been adjourned until April 30, 2024.

All three individuals denied the accusation of conspiring to defraud 42 individuals of GHC394,500.00 by promising them employment within the GES.
According to Police Chief Inspector Daniel Danku, Sumaila Awueidze, the complainant, was unemployed and lived in Kukurantumi, Eastern Region. Amelikpo resided in Awoshie, Accra, Bacha in Asamankese, Eastern Region, and Boateng in Effiduase, Ashanti Region. All three are teachers.
In August 2023, Amelikpo informed the complainant about available GES recruitment slots and claimed to have the necessary connections to facilitate recruitment. Allegedly, Amelikpo assured the complainant and promised to refund the money if the recruitment failed.
Based on these assurances, the complainant organized 42 interested applicants. On August 29, 2023, Amelikpo collected GHC394,000.00 from the complainants, ostensibly to secure jobs for them, but subsequently disappeared.

Despite efforts to reach Amelikpo, the complainant was unsuccessful, prompting a report to the police. Amelikpo was arrested on October 18, 2023, in Odorgonno, Accra, where he admitted to collecting the money but failing to fulfill his promises. He implicated Bacha and Boateng, leading to their arrests on November 10, 2023, in Asamankese and Asante Effiduase, respectively.
During police interrogation, Bacha confessed to receiving GHC388,000.00 from Amelikpo, which he handed over to Boateng and another individual for recruitment purposes. Boateng admitted to receiving money from both Amelikpo and Bacha, which he transferred to Vodafone Cash wallet accounts provided by an individual he met online, named Reuben Bempoh, who claimed to work at the GES National Headquarters in Accra.
As part of the investigation, the police recovered GHC70,000.00 from Boateng, which was returned to the complainant. The police are continuing their investigation into the matter.
