A teacher at Swedru Methodist B primary school has been accused of causing the death of 13-year-old student Godfred Ankomah. The tragic incident occurred after Godfred Ankomah was subjected to corporal punishment for errors on his homework. The teacher, Millicent, reportedly decided to administer six lashes across the back of the students, including Godfred Ankomah, due to excessive noise.
According to UTV reports, Godfred Ankomah, who fell ill before receiving the punishment, passed away while being taken to the hospital. Despite his health condition, he tried to inform the teacher about his situation, but his pleas were disregarded, and he was still struck on the back.

Upon returning home, Godfred Ankomah suddenly fell ill and began experiencing coughing spells. He was then taken to the government hospital in Agona Swedru, where doctors discovered blood in his coughed-up mucus. He received medical treatment but was subsequently transferred to the Winneba Government Hospital when his cough did not improve. Tragically, Godfred Ankomah passed away while being transported to the hospital and did not make it in time.
It is alleged that the teacher’s actions and negligence contributed to the untimely death of Godfred Ankomah.
