Arrested in December, the duo faces six provisional charges, including defrauding by false pretenses, charlatanic advertisement, and falsely pretending to be a public officer.
The accused individuals appeared before the Criminal Division of the Accra High Court under the jurisdiction of Justice Lydia Osei Marfo.
I want to commend the Ministry of National Security and the National Signals Bureau for their swift response to my complaint, leading to the tracking and apprehension of two unscrupulous individuals who manipulated my disaster fundraising materials and deceived many unsuspecting Ghanaians. During the court proceedings on Friday, December 15, 2023, Watkins Adama, a State Attorney, requested the court to detain the accused persons while further investigations are conducted.
The Court granted the request, and the case was adjourned to January 9, 2024, for the plea of the accused to be heard.
Justice Osei Marfo instructed the accused individuals, who expressed their intention to seek legal representation, to ensure they have legal counsel present at the next hearing.
