The Ghana Health Service (GHS) has reported 36 confirmed cases of Dengue Fever in the Eastern and Central regions. As of today, July 17, 2024, only one patient was hospitalized but has since been discharged. The other patients are being managed at home and are in stable condition.
The GHS has advised the public to be vigilant for Dengue Fever symptoms, which include a sudden onset of high-grade fever, severe headache (especially in the forehead), muscle, bone, and joint pains, nausea and/or vomiting, and rash.
Ongoing response measures include training clinicians on case definitions, conducting stakeholder meetings with District Health Management Teams, Municipal/District Chief Executives, and local chiefs, as well as engaging in risk communication in the affected districts.
