A human trafficking syndicate in Accra has been apprehended by the joint efforts of the Economic and Organised Crime Office (EOCO) and the Ghana Police Service.
Following an operation based on intelligence, the human trafficking syndicate was captured, resulting in the arrest of forty-nine Nigerian citizens.
In a statement, EOCO revealed that the detained individuals, comprising forty-seven men and two women aged between 18 and 34, were taken into custody in Accra. The suspects are believed to be involved in activities related to human trafficking and cybercrime. The authorities seized various items, including 70 laptop computers, 2 cars, 51 mobile phones, 9 internet modems, and other devices from the syndicate’s hiding place.

After conducting further investigations and screening the suspects, it was discovered that forty-five of them were victims of human trafficking, while the remaining four were identified as traffickers.
The rescued victims have been repatriated to Nigeria, where they will be reunited with their families.
The four individuals accused of trafficking, namely Godstine Omoruyi, Junior Nosa Omoruyi, Marvelous Omoruyi, and Evbuomwan Idowu, have been brought before the court to face legal proceedings.
