Some songs are made for big congregational moments, while others feel perfectly suited to quiet mornings, personal reflection and those moments when you simply want to thank God. Malachi Ben-David finds that beautiful middle ground on “Psalm of Thanksgiving,” the title track of his independently released acoustic worship EP, which arrived on October 30, 2026.

Inspired by the Psalms of thanksgiving, including Psalms 65, 67, 100, 107, 118, 136 and 138, the song takes a scripture-driven approach to worship. Its stripped-back acoustic guitar and vocal arrangement creates a peaceful atmosphere, allowing the message to remain the main attraction. Rather than relying on elaborate production, Malachi embraces simplicity, and it works particularly well for the direction he has chosen.
The lyrics move through different expressions of gratitude, reflecting on God’s provision, protection and faithfulness through difficult seasons. The opening lines, “You woke me up again with breath in my chest,” immediately establish the song’s central idea: every new day offers another reason to be thankful. As the song progresses, references to being fed in the waiting, held in the darkness and having tears turned into seeds give the writing a thoughtful spiritual dimension.

The recurring declaration, “You have been kind to me,” serves as an inviting chorus that brings everything together. The vocals and acoustic instrumentation complement each other beautifully, maintaining the song’s gentle character throughout. “Psalm of Thanksgiving” is a lovely worship release that encourages listeners to recognise God’s goodness in both ordinary and extraordinary moments. Malachi Ben-David delivers a simple yet meaningful musical expression of gratitude, making it a fitting addition to personal worship and Thanksgiving playlists.
