The 2023 West Africa Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE) results of Tyrone Iras Marhguy, who faced potential denial of admission at Achimota Senior High School (SHS), have surfaced on social media. According to the provisional results released by the West African Examination Council (WAEC), he achieved an impressive 8As.
His remarkable academic performance has garnered widespread admiration, with many considering him a true genius. Marhguy Tyrone gained public attention in 2021 when he, along with another student, Oheneba Kwaku Nkrabea, was initially denied admission to Achimota School due to their dreadlocks.

The Ghana Education Service (GES) intervened, instructing the school to admit the two students. However, the school maintained its stance, citing a code of conduct that disapproved of such hairstyles. In response, the students took legal action against the school.
On May 31, 2021, a High Court ruling mandated the school to admit the students. Despite this, the school’s Management, led by Attorney General Godfred Dame, expressed intentions to appeal, contending that the judge had made an error.
Following weeks of legal proceedings, Tyrone was eventually admitted to the school. His outstanding academic performance serves as a testament to the justification of his inclusion in the face of the earlier challenges.
