Guinness World Records (GWR) has responded to Ghanaian Chef Failatu Abdul-Razak’s ambitious bid to set the record for the longest cooking marathon (cook-a-thon). The reaction from GWR followed an announcement by Olele Salvador, an official X account, in a video declaring the conclusion of Faila’s cook-a-thon.
The GWR in a tweet on Wednesday, January 10 said “We look forward to reviewing her evidence”!
Commencing her 10-day cook-a-thon on January 1, 2024, at the Modern City Hotel in Tamale, Chef Faila aimed to surpass the current 119-hour record held by Irish chef Alan Fisher. Assisted by Chef Malik Eric, Failatu demonstrated her exceptional cooking skills by preparing a variety of dishes amidst a rich display of culture from the people of the Northern Region.

Chef Faila’s record-breaking attempt has garnered global attention, with many eagerly awaiting official confirmation from Guinness World Records. Notably, her endeavor followed another impressive attempt by Afua Asantewaa Aduonum, who aimed to break the record for the longest singing marathon (sing-a-thon), singing continuously for 126 hours and 52 minutes, also pending approval from GWR.
