The Ministry of Information has reported that the 16-year-old girl, previously married to Gborbu Wulormo, the chief priest of the Nungua Traditional Council, is now under the protection of both the Police Service and the Gender Ministry.

An official government statement emphasizes the dedication to ensuring the safety of children, with visits from officials, including Gender Minister-designate Dakoa Newman, confirming the girl’s well-being.
Various forms of support have been arranged to ensure her welfare, including counseling, medical attention, and the assignment of two caregivers. Furthermore, a caseworker has been appointed to ensure strict compliance with child protection guidelines.
It was also mentioned that the Ghana Police Service has obtained statements from Gborbu Wulormo Shitse and the child’s parents as part of the ongoing investigation.

Moreover, discussions have taken place between the Minister for Chieftaincy and Religious Affairs and the Nungua traditional authority to secure their full cooperation in safeguarding the child’s best interests.
