According to the latest Global Women Peace and Security Index 2023, Ghana has secured the 9th position among Africa’s top 10 safest destinations for women travelers. The index evaluates 177 countries based on criteria such as women’s inclusion, justice, and security. Seychelles claimed the top spot in Africa, with Ghana closely trailing behind.
The list of top 10 countries also includes Cape Verde, South Africa, Mauritius, Tunisia, Rwanda, Botswana, Tanzania, and Sao Tome and Principe, each recognized for their endeavors in ensuring the safety and security of women.

Conversely, the report identifies the Central African Republic as the most perilous country to visit for women travelers, with others such as the DR Congo, South Sudan, Burundi, Eswatini, Somalia, Niger, Sudan, Chad, and Nigeria rounding out the bottom of the list, indicating significant safety challenges.
Ghana’s presence in the top 10 underscores its dedication to advancing women’s rights, safety, and inclusion, inviting travelers to explore its diverse landscapes and vibrant culture with assurance.
