The “Ghosts” EP by Kinsley, released  July 7, 2025, is a three-track deep dive into Appalachian folklore, personal memory, and the eerie quiet between fact and legend. With confident, relaxed male vocals and stripped-back instrumentation, the Raleigh-based duo (Adam Staley and Christopher Jones) delivers an atmospheric folk-rock experience that lingers like a late-night campfire story.

From the opening moments of “Cothran,” you’re transported to shadowy corners of history, a rural inn, a mysterious traveler, a chilling silence. “Catamount” follows with a true family tale involving hunting dogs and a blood-draining beast, pulling you deeper into the uncanny. The third track closes the loop, gently unspooling in a haze of lap steel and field recordings.

This isn’t a project chasing trends. It’s slow, deliberate, and reverent. Ghosts feels handcrafted, drawing as much from Leonard Cohen and Marissa Nadler as it does from ambient rock traditions. It’s haunting without being heavy, magical without being overproduced.

Recorded in Raleigh and Graham, NC, this EP is a love letter to storytelling, where melody and mood take center stage. In just three songs, Kinsley proves that music doesn’t have to shout to stir the soul. Ghosts whispers… and somehow, that hits even harder.
