Released on March 18, 2026, “Going Up” by Roby Braun is the kind of track that instantly transports you. From the first few seconds, it carries that warm, lived-in jazz feel, the kind that doesn’t try to impress but ends up doing exactly that anyway. It’s smooth, confident, and rooted in a deep love for the genre.

Another thing is the story behind it. Roby BRAUN isn’t just experimenting with jazz, he’s lived it. Going all the way back to 1961, performing with an orchestra at the U.S. military base in Toul-Rozières, that early exposure clearly shaped his musical instincts. You can hear it in how naturally the composition flows. Nothing feels forced. Every note feels like it knows exactly where it belongs.

The track carries the spirit of his time with Roby and Co, a group that might have been labeled “amateur” but clearly had something special going on. There’s a nostalgic glow to “GOING UP,” like stepping into a room filled with live instruments, dim lighting, and musicians fully locked into the moment. The arrangement builds gently, allowing each element to breathe while still keeping the momentum alive.

It’s not just about looking back, though. “GOING UP” feels fresh in its own way, blending vintage influence with a modern sense of clarity in production. It’s the kind of jazz record that reminds you why the genre never really fades, it just evolves.
