Grunge isn’t dead, it’s just been hiding in Vancouver, and JBNG is here to resurrect it with a roar. Their single “Narrator” is a raw, riff-heavy punch to the chest that channels the angst and emotional unrest of classic ‘90s alt-rock, but with a modern, unfiltered edge.

From the very first lyric, “You stole my heart, then had the cuts to break it”, JBNG doesn’t waste time sugarcoating. This is heartbreak served loud, distorted, and unapologetically messy. The vocals crack with emotion, riding over gritty guitars and pounding drums that echo like an underground garage show that gets shut down just as it’s getting good.

What makes “Narrator” hit is its honesty. It’s not polished, it’s not pretentious, it’s just raw human frustration layered over fuzzed-out noise and power chords. The refrain “it’s too bad, but I got to go” turns into an anthem of emotional detachment, resignation, and finally, release.

Whether you’re moshing in your bedroom or just staring at the ceiling in a post-breakup haze, “Narrator” offers catharsis. JBNG may be new to the scene, but they’ve already got the grit and soul of seasoned grunge storytellers. And if this is how they introduce themselves? We’re listening. Loudly.
