Duplexity’s new single “Labyrinth” is a slow-burning indie-rock confessional that digs into the messy space between wanting connection and being terrified of it. The sibling duo has always leaned into honest songwriting, but this track feels like a deeper cut, a late-night emotional maze where every corner reveals another insecurity. The song opens with a line that instantly pulls you into the tension: “I can’t seem to get her out of my mind Cold conversations through passing time…”

It’s the sound of two people orbiting each other carefully, both aware something’s wrong, neither brave enough to rip the mask off. The back-and-forth vocal perspectives are one of the track’s biggest strengths. Lines like “She hides behind that face, what’s in those eyes?” and “A hand in my shell, not showing inside” mirror each other perfectly, two sides of the same fear.

“Labyrinth” is tight and shadowy. The guitars shimmer with a slight menace, the drums hit with a controlled urgency, and the whole mix feels like it’s closing in, capturing the suffocating feeling of emotional fog. Scarlett Snow’s guitar textures and Kaiya Christner’s drumming, both formerly of Midnight Butterfly, add a raw, live-wire energy that helps the track swell without ever exploding.

The chorus lands with a subtle ache: “Caught in a labyrinth… we’re headed in the right direction.”It’s hopeful, but not certain, which is exactly the point. To celebrate the release, Duplexity headline The Troubadour this Black Friday, bringing this emotional spiral to one of LA’s most legendary rooms. “Labyrinth” is tense, vulnerable, and beautifully human, their strongest release yet.
