During the 60th anniversary celebration of E.P. SHS, Hohoe (HEPSS) in the Volta Region, Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia made an announcement. He stated that the government intends to supply all senior high schools (SHSs) with laptop computers containing educational content by the end of 2023. This initiative aims to replace the need for printed textbooks and guide students into the world of modern technology and data-driven innovations.
Dr. Bawumia praised HEPSS for its long-standing academic excellence and discipline, considering it one of the top second-cycle schools in the country. He also commended the Evangelical Presbyterian Church in Ghana (EPCG) for its significant contributions to education and civilization. The Vice President recognized the cadet corps of the school for their exceptional drills and courage, promising to personally attend to their clothing requirements.
However, Angel Carbonu, the president of NAGRAT (an organization representing graduate teachers), expressed skepticism about the government’s ability to implement the laptop distribution. While acknowledging the importance of ICT in education, Carbonu foresaw challenges in executing the plan. Nevertheless, he emphasized the importance of remaining hopeful.
