With his latest single “Olympia”, genre-defying pop artist Andria serves up a brilliant juxtaposition: sun-soaked, shimmering production wrapped around a sharp, subversive commentary on identity, performance, and resistance. Released during Pride Month and in the cultural shadow of the recent Paris Olympic Games, “Olympia” may sound like a summer bop on the surface, but it packs a punch beneath its sparkling pop sheen.

Opening with absurdist, surrealist imagery “My pizza’s ready, oh, for the pizza to explode” Andria’s lyrics twist and turn through cultural references, linguistic play, and coded defiance. The lines feel intentionally cryptic, but their emotional intent is unmistakable: a rejection of conformity and a bold, declarative celebration of self. In one of the track’s most biting refrains, “I’m not trying to f*ck with you, you’re no old fascist” Andria flips the middle finger at oppressive ideologies while delivering it with the catchiness of a club asong.

“Olympia” is a masterclass in elegant contradiction. The production is bright, glossy, and deeply danceable, with slick synth work, unexpected chord shifts, and playful rhythmic flourishes. There’s a sense of classical precision underneath the layers, a nod to Andria’s roots as a Malagasy child prodigy in classical piano, which helps give the track its distinctive emotional tension. The instrumentation lifts you up, while the lyrics challenge you to think deeper.
