The Upper East Regional police are urging the general public, particularly residents, to promptly claim 27 unidentified bodies currently being held in their mortuary. These bodies were gathered from different locations throughout the region between the years 2020 and 2023. The purpose of this action is to alleviate congestion in the morgue, improve operational efficiency, and allow relatives the opportunity to give their deceased loved ones a dignified burial.

In the event that these bodies are not claimed, the police have announced that the Regional Hospital will be compelled to conduct a mass burial on August 1, 2023, which is 21 days from now. This is a measure to appropriately dispose of the bodies.

Relatives who desire to identify these bodies are advised to get in touch with the Medical Director in Bolgatanga or the Upper East Regional police command for further guidance and information.
