Six individuals, three of whom are soldiers stationed at the Headquarters Central Command of the Ghana Armed Forces in Kumasi, are currently on trial for allegedly plotting to rob a bullion van owned by a mining company in the Ahafo Region. The accused soldiers are WO2 Emmanuel Yartey, WO1 Linus Edem, and WO1 Francis Katamani, while the other three are civilians named Owura Osei Antwi, Makata, and David Ayaaba.

According to reports, the six suspects conspired to carry out an attack on a bullion van that was scheduled to transport gold for the Golden Team Mining Company in Ahafo Hwidiem, Ahafo Region.
The police arrested Owura Osei Antwi, who is a driver of the mining company, and later apprehended the remaining five individuals, including the military personnel, after conducting initial investigations.

During the trial at a Kumasi Circuit Court on Wednesday, July 26, the prosecution was granted permission by the court to seize the suspects’ phones for forensic examination and to gather evidence.
As part of the legal proceedings, the suspects have been granted bail in the amount of GH¢100,000 each, and they must provide three sureties for their release.
