Fracht FWO Polska, a logistics provider based in Poland, has announced the commencement of a project to deliver a railway set manufactured by PESA Bydgoszcz for the Ghana Railway Company Limited. This announcement represents a significant milestone in bolstering rail infrastructure in Ghana, particularly with the introduction of environmentally friendly trains, marking a first for the African continent.
The newly assembled train, tailored specifically for railway operations in Ghana, was officially transferred to the Ghanaian government during a ceremony held in Poland earlier this month. It is designated to facilitate passenger traffic on the newly constructed Tema-Mpakadan standard-gauge railway line, connecting Tema Seaport with Mpakadan River Port.
Crafted by PESA, the vehicles adhere to the latest European exhaust emission standards and are outfitted with modern, environmentally conscious Stage V engines, showcasing a dedication to sustainable transportation.
The journey of the train to Ghana commenced with a sea voyage, followed by transportation via specialized trailers to Hamburg, Germany. From there, it will be shipped to the port of Tema in Ghana.
