The Deputy Minister of Gender, Children and Social Protection, Francisca Oteng Mensah, has urged for urgent measures to be taken to tackle new forms of human trafficking that are on the rise in the country. During a visit by NGO International Justice Mission (IJM) Ghana, the MP for Kwabre East expressed concern about the emergence of “trafficking into the streets,” where individuals are deceived into moving from rural areas to urban cities and forced into debt bondage as
arising from their transportation to
the city and given a daily quota of sales to make, to be able to earn their freedom after a
period

The Deputy Minister emphasized that this information was gathered from the National Security and BNI, and urged everyone to support the fight against human trafficking and other social vices. She also thanked IJM for their efforts and congratulated the newly appointed Director of IJM West Africa, Anita Budu.
