Two gunmen on motorcycles attacked a bus transporting approximately 45 students from the Presbyterian Nurses Training College in Bawku near Binduri in the Upper East region. The incident, which occurred on a Friday afternoon, resulted in injuries to several students, who were promptly taken to the Bawku Presbyterian Hospital for medical attention.

The ambush took place as the students, recently on vacation, were en route to Bolgatanga. The assailants targeted the bus near the police barrier at Binduri, reportedly firing upon it. Fortunately, there were no fatalities.

In the wake of this attack, the Municipal Chief Executive of Bawku, Amadu Hamza, confirmed the incident and mentioned that the students who escaped unharmed have been escorted by the police to Bolgatanga. Hamza, when questioned about the motive behind the attack, suggested that gunshots in Bawku might occur without a discernible cause.

“Bawku has just been like that, at any time or any day, someone can just get up with a gun and start firing at you. By the time the military or police get there, the person is gone,” he added.
