The National Communications Authority (NCA) has developed a new system in partnership with telecommunications companies that allows the public to confirm how many SIM cards are connected to their Ghana Cards. The system will be implemented starting on May 1, 2023. Due to an increasing number of reports of people’s Ghana Cards being linked to incorrect numbers, there has been a demand for a simple and unified system that enables people to verify their linked numbers.

The NCA collaborated with telecom networks to create a shortcode that allows subscribers to confirm the number of SIMs associated with their Ghana Cards. The shortcode can be accessed from anywhere in the country via a mobile phone, eliminating the need to visit telecom service centers for verification. The NCA confirmed that the shortcode would be operational by the end of April 2023 after completing testing and obtaining approval, and subscribers would no longer need to go to the Telco to verify their SIM card connections physically.

The short code is *402*1#
