Sometimes a song doesn’t need to raise its voice to leave a mark. “Lullaby” arrives like soft moonlight spilling across an empty stage, delicate, patient, and soaked in old-Hollywood glamour.

Built as an homage to the grandeur of Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer musicals and the timeless elegance of icons like Lena Horne and Judy Garland, “Lullaby” feels like a love letter sealed in velvet. From the first note, it moves at the pace of a sigh.

The arrangement, helmed by pianist/arranger Bennett Paster, wraps you in brushed drums (Rob Garcia), warm bass (Jim Whitney), and glowing guitar textures (Freddie Bryant). At the center floats Carolyn Leonhart’s voice, feather-light yet unshakably present, like she’s singing from just beyond the glow of the footlights.

The lyrics are sparse and poetic “Whispers, shiver… a new dawn has come for you” and they land more like fleeting thoughts than lines to be decoded. They swirl around you, half-dreamt, half-remembered.

What makes “Lullaby” so magnetic is its refusal to rush. It’s calm like a whisper, carrying the kind of stillness that makes you lean in closer. There’s no big dramatic swell, no sudden key change. Just quiet grace.

And that restraint makes it hit harder. By the time Leonhart’s final “lullaby, lullaby” fades into silence, it feels like the world has slowed down to meet it.
