NYC-based composer Zohar Amar Mokady’s debut EP Zoheart is a genre-fluid heartburst of folk, jazz, and subconscious storytelling. Across just four tracks, Zohar makes a rich emotional landscape that feels ancient and futuristic all at once.
The opening track, a bold reimagining of Joni Mitchell’s “All I Want,” features haunting vocals by Lau Noah and baroque-leaning arrangements with classical guitars, piano, and sax. It’s a love letter to Joni filtered through Bach and ECM Records—a modern folk-jazz gem.

“The Blind Man from Kookoorook” dives into Zohar’s Moroccan subconscious with Bach-inspired voice leading and a Brazilian groove that somehow works perfectly. It’s whimsical, mysterious, and deeply personal.
“Alon Benjamini,” a Brazilian jazz shuffle named after Zohar’s drummer/friend, features trumpet legend Ingrid Jensen. Their back-and-forth soloing is electric. And then there’s the bonus track “Dream Piano” an off-the-cuff recording that closes the EP with quiet intimacy.
