Falling for someone who might never feel the same way can be a confusing game, and Ava Valianti explores that familiar territory on “Acupuncture,” released October 9, 2026. The second song from her kismet EP, this jazz-pop single captures the thrill of secret attraction, where a lingering touch or an ambiguous gesture can keep hope alive longer than it should.

The warm production, lovely beat, and smooth instrumentation give the track an inviting character. Ava’s confident vocal delivery moves naturally through the arrangement, balancing vulnerability with a knowing sense of humour. Rather than presenting unrequited love as pure heartbreak, she finds the strange excitement in not knowing where she stands. The result is a sound that feels relaxed and engaging, even when the emotions underneath are anything but simple.
The lyrics bring that uncertainty into focus. “My hands hover over yours” immediately establishes the delicate tension between wanting someone and being afraid to disturb the relationship. She recognises that her feelings run deeper than what has actually been defined between them, yet she continues entertaining the possibility that something more could happen. The question “Would you smile if I kissed your lips with ignorance?” captures that risky moment when desire starts competing with common sense.

The title is particularly fitting: secret love can deliver little jolts of excitement alongside the discomfort of uncertainty. Ava understands how easily mixed signals become imagined promises, and she approaches the situation with enough self-awareness to keep it playful. “Acupuncture” is a polished, relatable jazz-pop offering that turns romantic confusion into an engaging listening experience. Ava Valianti makes the uncertainty part of the attraction.
