The King of Asante, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, has removed Nana Nketia Boampong II from his position as Chief of Kwaso, a town in the Ejisu-Juaben Municipality.

After a hearing at the Manhyia Palace, the tribunal of the Asanteman Traditional Council found the Chief of Kwaso guilty of defrauding certain members of the royal family in Kwaso.

It is alleged that he collected a sum of GHS 300,000 from individuals, promising to grant them a vacant chieftaincy position.

Initially, the chief denied these accusations, but further investigations conducted by the Council proved his involvement.

Nana Boampong was also implicated in multiple cases of land sales. As a result, he was destooled for his involvement in fraud and perjury. This marks the second destoolment in less than two weeks.

Recently, the King, Otumfuo, also ordered the removal of Nana Kwame Owusu Agyeman, the chief of Antoa, a well-known town in Asante, for disregarding customary procedures and engaging in multiple land sales.
