Joseph Awuku, the Communications Officer for the Ashaiman Constituency in the Greater Accra Region of Ghana, representing the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC), has urged the Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) of Ashaiman to cease neglecting his responsibilities and address the concerns of the local residents.
Awuku expressed the dissatisfaction of many supporters of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the region regarding the MCE’s lackluster approach. He claimed that there is a noticeable absence of noteworthy initiatives under the leadership of Albert Boakye Okyere, the MCE, and cited poorly maintained roads as one example.

During his appearance as a panellist on the Ghana Yensom morning show hosted by Odehyeeba Kofi Essuman on Accra 100.5, on Thursday, June 8, 2023, Awuku emphasized that the MCE’s efforts for the people of Ashaiman are inadequate. He highlighted the pervasive issue of unaddressed waste accumulation in the area, indicating a lack of concern from authorities.
Furthermore, Awuku declared his intention to mobilize the youth and arrange a significant demonstration to protest against the MCE’s actions. He described the MCE’s incompetence as widely recognized and even alleged that the NPP Chairman for Ashaiman privately expressed discontent with the MCE’s approach to local development.
