The Bank of Ghana (BoG) has issued a warning to the public regarding the operation of certain unauthorized online applications.
A total of 97 such applications have been identified for engaging in unlicensed lending activities, which is a violation of the Banks and Specialized Deposit-Taking Institutions Act, 2016 (930).

The Central Bank emphasized that these entities’ activities not only contravene customer data and privacy laws but also fail to meet consumer protection requirements and standards. This has negative implications for the well-being and integrity of their customers.
In a statement, the Bank of Ghana urged the general public to refer to its website for a list of licensed institutions before engaging in any transactions with an organization.
