There’s a fine line between satire and sincerity, and Wattmore doesn’t just walk it, they two-step across it with muddy boots, a smirk, and a guitar solo that flips tradition the bird. Their latest single, “Canadian Whiskey,” pretends to be a drinking song, then socks you with wit, grit, and a cheeky grin. It’s outlaw country if outlaw country got jumped by a pack of folk and bluegrass players behind the bar.

The track wastes no time setting the tone. The opening line, “Canadian whiskey, Mexican tequila, we’ll just get a vodka from Ukraine” , feels like a toast and a taunt rolled into one. It’s irreverent, unpredictable, and a little too clever for comfort. But that’s Wattmore for you, two brothers who apparently communicate best through guitar solos, sarcasm, and perfectly timed eye rolls. They’re the guys who look like they shouldn’t be allowed near a microphone but somehow end up stealing the whole damn show.

“Canadian Whiskey” might sound like your standard barroom song, but underneath the rowdy humor is a smart, satirical jab at nationalism, pride, and the absurdity of taking things too seriously. Co-written with Allan Caswell, a self-proclaimed leftie, hippie, and professional troublemaker, the song swings like a middle finger in 4/4 time. It’s not anti-anything; it’s just pro-chaos, pro-fun, and very pro-good-drink-from-anywhere-but-here.

Already heating up on Australian Country Radio and battle-tested live at the EKKA Showdown stage, this track is everything Wattmore promised: not safe, not polite, and definitely not background noise. It’s brash, it’s bold, and it might just make you spill your drink laughing.
