“Disengaged” is a swirling vortex of sound, with swirling guitars, pulsing bass, and hypnotic drums. The vocals, expertly delivered by new member Issy, are ethereal and captivating. The song’s structure is a departure from traditional verse-chorus-verse, instead featuring musical movements that revolve around each other, creating a mesmerizing architecture.
“Slipping” is a slower-burning track, with a haunting atmosphere and great lyrics. The guitars are more subdued, but no less effective, creating a sense of tension and release. Issy’s vocals are again standout, conveying a sense of longing and vulnerability.
The production quality is appealing, thanks to Eric at Dirt Floor Recording and Production. The mix is crisp and clear, allowing each instrument to shine.
