Barring any unforeseen circumstances, Ghanaian socialite Elorm Ababio, also known as Ama Governor, is set to be among the lawyers inducted into the Ghana Bar Association this year.

Ama Governor’s name appeared on a list of inductees signed by the Director of the Ghana School of Law, Yaw Oppong. However, a notice issued by the Registrar indicated that the appearance of one’s name is not a final confirmation of enrollment.

Ama has been involved in a year-long dispute with the General Legal Council (GLC) following a complaint by a concerned citizen in November 2022, which accused her of conduct “unbecoming of a bar applicant.” This led the GLC to halt her bar admission process.
Ama has strongly denied the misconduct allegations, claiming she has been unfairly treated. In a recent development, a report from the Ghana Bar Association (GBA) representative to the General Legal Council at the 2022/2023 bar conference in Cape Coast revealed that Ama Governor has been allowed to complete the application process for her bar call, which is scheduled for the October/November 2023 sessions.
