Haruna Iddrisu, Member of Parliament for Tamale South Constituency, is due to visit Ghana Senior High School, which is within his jurisdiction, following viral recordings of toilets being converted into dorms for student usage.
The Old Students Association and school officials have both refuted this, claiming that students only kept their chop boxes and trunks in the cubicles, which were originally built as restrooms, during holiday.

The Ghana Education Service (GES) has asked the Headmaster of the School, Douglas Haruna Yakubu, and the Senior Housemaster, Sayibu Fuseini, to step aside while investigations are conducted. The investigations will be led by the Northern Region Director of Education, who will report back in two weeks.

Haruna Iddrisu, the immediate past Minority Leader, backed GES’s decision to launch an investigation into the matter in a statement released on Monday, April 17.He claims that this will reassure parents and the entire public about the safety and well-being of pupils at the school.
He called the conditions depicted in the viral video “unfortunate” and “disappointing” if real.
“Whiles keenly awaiting the report from the investigation, I call on government, the GES and the Ghana Education Trust Fund (GETFund) to take a comprehensive review of the infrastructure requirements and other complimentary facilities needed to support effective teaching and learning in school.
“I shall be visiting the School as Member of Parliament for the Tamale South Constituency, to ascertain things for myself,” the statement concluded.
